2022 General Meeting Summary
The 2022 meeting of the ICG-EAC was held from May 29 to June 3 in the Tampere Talo conference center, in Tampere, Finland. After the ‘COVID-break’ with the 2021 meeting being held online, this year it was organized again as physical format with 77 attendees on site. But because especially our colleagues from Asia were not able to travel, also an online streaming option was available, which was made use of by 39 attendees. Therefore a total number of 116 technical delegates from 16 countries, representing 60 member organizations, attended the meeting.
A total of 60 technical presentations on various EAC-related topics are included in the 2022 meeting minutes (39 oral, 5 special session and 6 tutorial presentations), plus a very interesting plenary lecture. As usually the meeting was preceded by an excellent tutorial on the Sunday on “Manufacturing for new-builds”. This year all presentations could be accommodated in the agenda as regular oral presentations and on the Tuesday even the online attendees could present their work.
The 2022 meeting was still a special one, where many of the colleagues met for the first time physically in three years. And it was very obvious that all enjoyed this very much and had many interesting discussions during the breaks and numerous social events. On the Saturday some delegates attended the post-meeting tour to the new EPR and to the Finish nuclear waste disposal site (Olkiluoto).
Finally, the support of the Group Leadership, attendees and sponsors is gratefully acknowledged and very special thanks are expressed to the local host’s team (Merja, Chrissu, Pirjo, Noora, and Zaiqing) who did a fabulous job setting up this fantastic meeting (during these still challenging times)!
