2024 General Meeting Summary
After 14 years the ICG-EAC returned to South Korea. While the 2010 meeting was held on Jeju Island, this time it was held on the mainland, in Busan from April 14 to 19, 2024. The meeting was attended by 141 technical delegates from 13 countries. The local host was led by Changheui Jang (KAIST, Republic of Korea), who was supported by Hyeon Bae Lee, Chaewon Jeong, Sunhye Jeong (all KAIST) and an excellent team behind (also supported by the Korean Society of Pressure Vessels and Piping, KPVP and some sponsors).
A total of 78 technical contributions from 37 organizations were included in the 2024 meeting minutes (47 regular oral presentations, 7 special session presentations, 4 tutorial lectures, 18 summary/poster presentations, and 2 presentations for the minutes only). On Monday morning, an impressive plenary lecture was given by Jongin Kim from Doosan Enerbility. On Wednesday morning a special session was held, including a very lively panel discussion moderated by Jared Smith. On Sunday, a tutorial titled “Overview on the working principles and materials (aging) issues of Molten Salt Reactors” preceded the meeting. It was organized by Caitlin Huotilainen (TerraPower). After the end of the meeting, on Friday afternoon, a number of attendees joined a technical tour visiting Doosan Enerbility (a nuclear power plant vendor).
